STMC Concert Bands Receive Musicfest Invitations
STMC Music Department
The St. Thomas More Collegiate music program has much to be proud of this year. On top of our very successful trip to the Sun Peaks music festival in April, four of our performing groups ranked very well at festivals this season. Below is a run down the student's accomplishments
-The Voices Utopia Chamber Choir ranked Gold at our local Chancellor Music festival.
-The STMC Jazz Band, AKA "Shoe and the Laces" ranked Silver at the highly competitive Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival. This marks the first year that the Jazz Band has attained a Silver ranking. Along with this ranking, the Jazz band also received an invitation to Musicfest Canada, Canada's premier music festival.
-The STMC Junior Knights Concert Band ranked Bronze at their first ever festival appearance at the Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival. Well done Junior Band.
-The STMC Senior Chancellor Concert Band ranked Silver at the Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival. The seniors have worked hard this year, with some help from some very keen junior students and have also received a much earned invitation to Musicfest Canada.
Well done music students! We thank you all for your hard work. We look forward to a very exciting year with you starting in September.
