It is vital that you express your opinion on this very important question.  Electronic polls like this "measure" the general public opinion and they shape public opinion.  These websites are read by many people and so it is important that we all express our opinions on this very critical matter.  The government and general public must constantly be reminded that there are many people in this Province who support independent schools.  

 
One out of every ten school-aged children in British Columbia attend an independent school.  Their families not only pay school taxes to support the public school system, but in addition, also pay tuition fees for the right to have their children educated according to their family values in an independent school.  Furthermore, families like yours also pay 100% of the capital buildings and land costs of these independent schools.  Independent schools provide a service for the public common good and as such should receive funding for the provision of that service.

 

At STM, government funding provides half of the school's annual operating budget.  Without this support, the school would be very hard pressed to continue to operate at the same level.
