14th Annual Alumni Basketball Tournament:  A Super Event!

This year's tourney featured super heroes galore, tacky tourists and some outstanding basketball players. The competitve B Division Final was hugely entertaining and a game for the ages.  The grads of '97-'98 the Chilcuts won against Team Vintage, grads of 1999.   The repeat winners of the A division was Team Staff Infection, who won over the Old Timers, grads of the  Paleolithic Era .  The Most Valuable Offensive Player was Vinny Dumas ('98).  Most Valuable Defensive Player was Tim Dumas ('97).

This year was definitely the year of the costume and no team got into the spirit of the event more than  Team Super Cheng (Grads of 2001).  (See picture below!) The Shining Knight Award was won by a person whose name you might recognize, Br. G.T. Bassett. Although Bro did not display his skills on the hardwood, he did unbelievable work before, during and after the event.  Editor's Note:  Apparently this was not the first sports related award that Bro has won.  It is a little known fact that in the late 1950's Bro was the Hammer Throw Champion of his novitiate.

Special thanks must go out to the tourney crew: Dan Cahill ('74), Tammy and Mike Farrer ('74) John Spanjers ('74), Jerry Mulliss, Ron Crosato ('00), Aaron Mitchell, Darren McCormick ('90), Mike Carney (Alumni Dad), Laura Bouwman ('06), Mark Bradshaw ('06) and James Borthistle.
